It started with a question I couldn't stop asking:
Where are the women? The folks like me?
In so many spaces I worked - at board tables, in leadership roles, in community planning - there was always someone who knew a guy to fill a need. There seemed to be this elusive circle of trust, a built-in secret network. But it rarely included women. It almost never included gender-diverse people. And it definitely wasn’t built for us.
I watched how these networks worked: how they passed opportunities along, vouched for one another, made space for each other. That wasn’t a bad thing in itself. But it left a lot of people standing on the outside, wondering how to get in. I eventually decided: maybe I don’t want in. Maybe we build something else.
Blazing Willows is that something else.
It’s a place where we can show up as ourselves. Where we don’t have to perform or translate. Where the conversation doesn’t get derailed by people who want to be told that “not all men…” Where we can focus on connection, creativity, and supporting one another without second-guessing our presence.
There’s no secret handshake here. Just open doors.
Join UsWho this space is for
Blazing Willows is a space for women and gender-diverse professionals who have often felt left out of traditional networks—the proverbial "old boys' clubs." While we appreciate allies, this community is reserved for those who have experienced exclusion, providing a safe environment for open and honest conversations without the need to justify or defend their experiences.

Why Blazing Willows?
The name Blazing Willows in inspired by a series of conversations I had with Elder Paul Guimond, a proud member of the Turtle Clan and Sagkeeng First Nation. For a year, we worked closely together on a project - and during this time, he offered me the wisdom of many traditional teachings.Â
During one of our conversations, he shared a teaching about the willow tree - how its roots stabilize landscapes, weaving together to support entire ecosystems. Willows bend without breaking. They endure storms. And they hold the land together for everything around them.
That image stayed with me. It felt like the perfect metaphor for the role women and gender-diverse people often play in our communities: as strong, resilient, and connected folks who care deeply about those around us.
The blazing part of the name speaks to something else: the fire and vision it takes to carve new paths forward. Many of us have had to do that - on our own, or for others. So Blazing Willows is a space for us to connect, uplift each other, and help shape what’s next - together.Â

TESTIMONIALS
What people are saying
"I think part of what was unique (in terms of a networking event) is that the expectation was authentic relationship building. We were coming to meet people we would love to get to know better because they were amazing, cool, interesting, fun and deeply authentic women/gender+."
"I liked that there was no pressure to sell (or be sold to), just meeting people that could relate to what I do and build connection."
"I loved how intentional you were to set us up to expect meaningful connections. It wasn’t random strangers coming into the same space. And I loved bringing a charity into the evening. Learning about it. Donating to it. It brings out the best in us to help others."
